Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an inspiring teacher to plan and deliver personalised learning to vulnerable students and those on the SEND register.  Ideally you will have the ability to offer a mix of English, Mathematics and Science lessons to GCSE level. The willingness and ability to support students with other subjects would be desirable.  Lessons may be taught individually or in very small groups up to KS4, with students typically working towards GCSE grades 2-5.

The successful candidate will be a qualified teacher and will be able to plan and deliver high quality, engaging, relevant and well-structured lessons.  An experienced primary school teacher (KS2) may have the transferable skills and experience for this role.

The Specialist Tutor will work collaboratively with the Assistant Headteacher, (responsible for ARR and Raising Standards), DSP, and SENCo.  A knowledge of Attachment Disorder and associated issues, or a willingness to undertake training in this area is desirable.

The role is extremely rewarding and we can offer:

  • Extensive teaching resources to aid curriculum delivery across the core subjects
  • Robust induction programme and bespoke CPD to suit your career goals
  • Competitive salary
  • Lovely school grounds in leafy surrounds with an on-site gym and Sports Facilities
  • Support for completion of an MA, if desired
  • An admission policy prioritising the children of staff

Candidates are welcome to contact admin@parmiters.herts.sch.uk to arrange a visit to the school/informal discussion about the role prior to application.

Early application is advised as we reserve the right to close the advert early should a suitable candidate be found.

Parmiter’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

The Good Schools Guide

Parmiter's School relocated to the current 60 acre rural Hertfordshire site from London's East End in 1977.  The site is currently undergoing a period of development and has recently opened a new £4m state of the art Science facility. The school enjoys a good reputation for traditional values and academic achievement whilst maintaining a true family feel among staff and students.

Experienced teachers, Early Careers Teachers and support staff benefit from a supportive leadership team who focus on personal development and wellbeing as a priority. Staff benefit from complimentary use of a new Fitness Suite facility.

Parmiter's leads the Watford Partnership for Teacher Training in collaboration with 11 local schools, the University of Hertfordshire and Herts for Learning.

The school is consistently over subscribed for Year 7 and Sixth Form entry.  Children of staff are a priority for admission.
