Here at TreeHouse school, part of Ambitious about Autism, we are looking for a talented Speech and Language Therapist for a 6 months maternity cover starting early in 2020!

TreeHouse school is an Ofsted Outstanding non-maintained special school, providing support and education to over 88 pupils. We are looking for Teaching and Behavioural support staff, with a passion for working with children and young people, aged 4-19, in particular those who may have received all manner of set-backs in and outside of education.

We are now looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our specialist transdisciplinary team, supporting the assessment needs of our learners and embedding therapeutic approaches into our pupils' daily experience within the context of a newly developed service delivery model.

The successful candidate will be:

• Professional Speech and Language Therapy qualification to degree or diploma level

• HCPC Registration

• Evidence of post registration training with defined clinical area of expertise (ASD)

• Knowledge of assessment, planning and evaluating treatment

• Demonstrable experience in the school aged population

• Demonstrable commitment to Evidence Based Practice (EBP)

• Knowledge and experience of a range of intervention AAC (e.g. PECS, Makaton, SGD), dysphagia management, social stories etc.

• Knowledge and experience of the impact of disability on communication and language.

• Working Knowledge of Further Education Curriculum

- Ambitious College is a specialist day college for autistic young people aged 16 to 25. The college has two campuses situated in partnership with mainstream colleges in north and west London.

- Spring School is a special school dedicated to educating autistic pupils aged four to 19. It was opened in 2023 by the Ambitious about Autism Schools Trust and is based in Kingston, south west London.

- St. John’s College is a specialist college based in Brighton supporting young people aged 16-25. The college became part of Ambitious about Autism in 2023.
