Job overview

The Holmewood School is a small independent day school for neurodivergent children and young people aged from 7 to 19 who have a primary diagnosis of Autism. In May of 2022 the school was judged Outstanding by Ofsted and we have achieved Advanced Autism Accreditation from the National Autistic Society (NAS).

We are located in North London (North Finchley and Muswell Hill) and are a part of the Cavendish Education Group. You will be required to work at both sites.

We are looking for a dynamic, flexible and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to join our multi-disciplinary team and work seamlessly with our education staff. This role involves providing integrated SaLT services to young people in our school based at both our Upper and Lower School sites. We work closely with the other schools in our group, have extensive community links and believe in ‘thinking differently’ and being as creative as possible in our teaching.

The post holder will receive solution focused clinical supervision from the senior SaLT who has extensive experience in mainstream and special school settings, is Chair of the London Autism Clinical Excellence Network Committee and has trained in Solution Focused Brief Therapy. A high level of supervision will be provided. There will be opportunities for joint working and collaboration in exciting projects.

You will be committed to providing the best opportunities for our students and ensuring every child is supported to achieve their full potential. You will demonstrate a flexible approach to education and therapy, a willingness to get involved in all aspects of school life, and the ability to work under pressure with young people that can challenge us. You will have previous experience of working with young people with autism in other educational settings. Experience of working with young people with behaviour needs or mental health needs would also be desirable.

Closing date: Friday 16th June 2023

Interviews will be held at the Upper School site in Muswell Hill on: Tuesday 27th June 2023

About The Holmewood School

The Holmewood School is a growing independent day school for neurodivergent children and young people aged from 7 to 19 who have a primary diagnosis of Autism. Our young people are broadly similar to their mainstream peers in their academic ability but require support with communication and interaction, executive functioning, anxiety, functional skills and other needs related to their diagnosis. Many of our young people also have coaccurring diagnoses, such as ADHD and dyslexia.

We were awarded an Outstanding rating by Ofsted following their visit in May 2022 and we are proud to have Advanced Accreditation Status granted by the National Autistic Society.
