The Cam Academy Trust’s Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASC) centres, better known as ‘Cabins’, are seeking a highly driven and ambitious Speech and Language Therapist to join their experienced team. The Cabin is a leading model of inclusion for autistic students within Cambridgeshire, with provision based across 5 sites, in high quality schools that range from primary to sixth form and with plans to expand. We believe we truly help our students to cope throughout their education and are proud of the often-amazing achievements of our students. We are currently located at Comberton Village College, Melbourne Village College, St Peters School Huntingdon, Comberton Sixth Form and Gamlingay Village Primary and would require the successful candidate to work in each of these schools as required.
We are looking for a vibrant and energetic individual who wants to make a difference to the lives of our students and who will engage with working as part of a highly committed and effective team. You will need to be confident, resilient, approachable and a good communicator as you will be required to liaise with students, staff, parents/carers and outside agencies.
The successful candidate will provide Speech and Language Therapy for our students through devising and implementing a personalised group intervention programme. You will play a key role in regularly reviewing, refining, and developing the speech and language therapy offer. You will have experience and/or awareness of tools such as Social Thinking, social stories and comic strips and be able to demonstrate excellent assessment skills, as well as a dynamic and creative approaches to delivering treatment.
Strategic responsibilities include:
• direct therapy: indirect therapy provided for Teaching Assistants e.g. group work • training and performance management of the staff team • record keeping and high-level report writing • demonstrate the ability to generate appropriate strategies for caseload management
You will benefit from working within a well-established team, including SaLT Assistants, Occupational Therapists, and both a Counsellor and Student Wellbeing Lead, as well as the wider staff.
