Hours: 37.5 hours per week (08:30am - 16:10pm term time only)

Priory Lodge School are looking for a practitioner with a passion for working with young people with ASD and associated social communication difficulties.  The successful applicant will be HCPC registered and will hold a recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree.  This post is full time but part time is also considered for the right candidate.

Experience of working with children with complex needs is essential.  You will have training, experience and/or awareness of tools such as Social Thinking, social stories and comic strips and be able to demonstrate excellent assessment skills, as well as a dynamic and creative approach to delivering treatment.

This role will have a strategic element, whereby you will assess, deliver and review therapeutic provision to our young people. Responsibilities will include:

  • Direct therapy; indirect therapy e.g. group work
  • Record keeping and report writing; as well as training to the staff team
  • Ensuring that a consistent and coherent approach is maintained.

You will need to organise, plan and prioritise your own work load, and that of the SaLT Assistants and demonstrate the ability to generate appropriate strategies for caseload management.

You will benefit from working within a well-established team, including SaLT Assistants, Occupational Therapists, and both a Counsellor and Student Wellbeing Lead, as well as the wider staff.  There are also opportunities for development into a leadership role once you are established within the team.

About Roehampton Gate School

Roehampton Gate School is a purpose-built day school for young people with autistic spectrum disorders, in particular Asperger's Syndrome and associated learning difficulties. It is situated next to the Hospital Roehampton. The school opened in April 2010.

The spacious and modern building has been specifically designed to accommodate up to 40 young people with autistic spectrum disorders and Asperger's Syndrome.

The classrooms are set up for specialist subjects including information technology, art, food technology, science and music, together with exclusive sensory and therapy rooms/suites or studios.

Roehampton Gate School is also uniquely placed to benefit from the extensive therapy and specialist mental health services provided at the Hospital Roehampton. Staff and students will also work closely with the child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) and experienced educational psychologists
