About our schools:
Farleigh FE College is a residential Specialist College of Further Education for young people with Asperger’s Syndrome and associated disorders. We provide our learners opportunities to fulfil their academic potential by studying in mainstream FE Colleges and having the benefit of a broad range of courses, including A Levels.
Education is continued within the Farleigh residential setting with opportunities for sessions on literacy, numeracy and one to one sessions on independent living skills.
North Hill House is set on own grounds close to Frome town centre, as an independent specialist day and residential school for children and young people aged 6 to 19 years with high functioning autistic spectrum disorders, including Asperger’s Syndrome and associated difficulties.
The school has been specifically designed to provide a strong focus for both UK and international students who need different levels of support to succeed, thus allowing young people with autistic spectrum disorders, Asperger’s Syndrome and associated difficulties to thrive effectively in an ever-demanding and complex society. Students have ambitions to live and work as self-reliant adults and we can help them to reach their goals with continued support, structure and guidance. The school welcomes students on a day or weekly residential basis for 38 weeks per year.
About the role:
We are seeking a suitably qualified and registered Speech and Language Therapist with a passionate and informed interest in Autism (ASC) and co conditions to join our team here in Frome. Working across both North Hill House School and Farleigh FE College, the successful applicant will have tangible experience supporting and facilitating 1:1 and group therapy to young people between the ages of 6 – 25 yrs.
A sound knowledge of evidence based support within the field of ASC is required, ELKLAN training is desirable but not essential. The applicant will have suitable experience supporting language and developmental delays, skilled in facilitating standardised assessments, scoring, analysis and creating bespoke programmes. The applicant will be proactive in disseminating best ways of working to the wider support team and will be confident to deliver onsite profession specific training to colleagues as and when required.
The applicant will work in close partnership with a diverse team of Therapy, educational and care specialists, including our Occupational Therapists, Counsellor, Educational Psychologists and Dyslexia specialist to deliver tailored support that meets the needs of each young person.
The applicant will join a supportive and experienced team of dedicated support staff, committed to delivering the very best care. The applicant will be actively encouraged and supported to remain up to date with CPD and both internal and external training opportunities are available to you. The successful applicant will receive a bespoke internal induction programme and the ability to network with Therapists across other Priory sites.

Farleigh Further Education College in Frome was established in 2000 as an independent specialist residential college for up to 90 students aged 16 to 25 with Asperger Syndrome and associated conditions. A range of diagnoses may have been applied to our students, including autistic spectrum condition (ASC), pervasive development disorder or autistic or Asperger Syndrome traits. The town of Frome has a population of 26,000, and is 13 miles south of Bath.
Values and vision
Farleigh Further Education College strives to support all students in preparing for adulthood, feeling empowered to make choices and optimising their independent living skills. In order to achieve this, the school provides an aspirational provision focused upon a positive understanding of autistic spectrum conditions. Also offered are one to three year intensive learning and independence programmes, and access to mainstream further education through individualised tailored academic and vocational courses.
Farleigh Further Education College aims to provide the widest range of courses for students through partnership agreements with local mainstream colleges. The school offers young people the option to choose from more than 150 courses including GCSEs, A-Levels, and pre-entry vocational courses. Students have previously studied a broad spectrum of subjects, including Japanese, Psychology, and Art.
