Job overview

Appleford School is a specialist school for pupils aged 7-18 with dyslexia and associated learning difficulties.  Our ethos is to build pupils’ confidence through continuous support and celebration of success.  Rated ‘Excellent’ by ISI in all categories, the school has been providing the highest quality teaching for pupils with dyslexia for over 30 years. Appleford has small classes of up to 10 pupils and an ethos based on developing confidence, celebrating success and continuous support.  More importantly, we instill a belief in our children that dyslexia is no barrier to learning and we expect them to do well.

Due to increasing pupil numbers, we are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly individual to join our small but expanding team at Appleford School.  We are currently a team of four Speech and Language Therapists. Although we have individual caseloads of pupils, we work closely together in a supportive manner. We regularly access both internal and external clinical supervision and meet on a weekly basis for CPD.

You will be working with a specialist caseload of pupils who have specific learning difficulties including: dyslexia, autism, language disorders and social communication difficulties.  You will work closely with onsite Occupational Therapists, the Pastoral team, and Academic and Boarding Staff to ensure communication targets are incorporated into the educational setting.

You will need:

• A recognised Speech and Language Therapy qualification

• HCPC registration

• To be a member of the RCSLT

• Completion of newly-qualified competency framework

Four days a week, Term-time only, with 52 week competitive salary based on experience

Starting January 2022

Appleford School is committed to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of the pupils and staff. We expect all staff to share this commitment. All job applicants will undergo Child Protection Screening, including checks with past employers and an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.  Appleford welcomes applications regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnic origin, nationality, religion, disability or age.
