WKRS is a non-maintained charity special school for pupils with complex education needs, many with communication problems. There are currently over 70 co-educational day and residential pupils on roll aged 6-19. The school has achieved outstanding reports from OFSTED 2013 and holds Silver Investors in People Status. Flexibility, humour and a willingness to go the extra mile are essential for all our staff to ensure a high standard of support.

We are seeking an experienced therapist to join the Speech and Language Therapy department in this progressive school.

You will manage a varied caseload of pupils with complex needs and comorbid diagnoses, so a keen interest in developing a holistic approach to therapy with young people who have social, emotional and mental health difficulties is essential. The majority of pupils have a diagnosis of ASD and communicate verbally. The role will involve working in the classroom alongside teaching staff, as well as working with individuals or small groups. Duties will also include providing training, advice and strategies to staff and families.

We seek someone who can generate enthusiasm and develop the potential of pupils who may have experienced frustration and/or trauma during the early years of their education. You will be willing to contribute to other curriculum areas and extra-curriculum activities outside the department. You must be HCPC registered.
