Although many of the children have some associated difficulties such as fine motor problems or poor organisational skills, they are all within the average range of cognitive abilities.


Speech and Language Therapy Assistant

(Term-Time or full-time, 5 days per week; Monday - Friday)


We have an exciting opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join our team of Speech and Language Therapy assistants as part of the Speech and Language Therapy Team, supporting students who have speech, language and communication difficulties, from September 2023.  

The ideal candidate will have experience working with Special Education Needs, will be organised, flexible and have excellent communication skills. The following skills are desirable: budget management, writing notes, ability to summarise assessment children’s details and to convey information to appropriate staff, to deliver therapy, diary management, to record and analyse pupil target data. The candidate will need to be confident in using IT applications such as Microsoft Office, Excel and be able to communicate clearly in print.

Duties will include supporting Speech and Language Therapists (SLT) during group therapy sessions, carrying out specific therapy programmes as directed by a qualified SLT, coordinating cover for the department and making and ordering new resources and assessments as required, completing allocated administrative tasks.

The ideal candidate will have:

·        Confidence, enthusiasm and a passion for learning.

·        Supporting our students can sometimes be challenging, mental and physical resilience are qualities necessary for all our staff.

·        The ability to build good working relationships with children, teachers, parents and carers.

·        Experience of working with children with Special Education Needs (SEN), particularly children on the Autism Spectrum.

·        Experience of working with children and the ability to manage groups of children with complex communication needs.

·        The ability to promote positive behaviour in a nurturing environment is essential.

·        Excellent English skills (clear written and spoken English) along with good reading, writing and numeracy skills.

·        Good administrative and organisational skills.

 

The role is a Permanent, (Monday - Friday)                                

Option of working Full time (with 8 weeks holiday) or Term-Time only role (approx. 36 weeks per annum)

You will be required to work Monday - Friday, 08:30 – 17:00.

Annual salary: Competitive market rate
