Job overview

Mencap have a brand-new opportunity for a Sport and Enrichment Officer to join our Programmes and Networks team. This role is a full-time contracted position until March 2023. It will be a home-based position.

This role will bring together key stakeholders to plan a timetable of sport and physical activity, encouraging learners that have a learning disability and who are on these employment programmes to be active, at a suitable time, location, and format. These sessions will also increase the physical and mental wellbeing of our learners, and help build complimentary skills to enhance their employability, by building traits such as teamwork, communication, discipline, and confidence.

We are looking for someone who is exceptionally organised, a confident communicator across all levels and someone who can build strong working partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in particular community sports organisations.

You will be required to be flexible within your working hours and there will be occasional national travel requirements in this role. An enhanced DBS will also be required for this role.

Essential experiences and skills required for this role:

  • Co-ordinating projects and/or events
  • Able to develop a positive rapport with others and work collaboratively
  • Project planning and development
  • Self-motivated, able to work on own initiative
  • Ability to manage resources, information, and budgets effectively
  • Conducting evaluations and measuring impact
  • Working in sport or with community sports organisations
  • Experience of using MS Office packages (Word and Excel)
