Job overview

We are looking to recruit a Sports Assistant (Hockey or Netball Specialist)/Teaching Assistant.  This role would suit someone who is looking for work experience in a school with the possible aim of entering the teaching profession.  We welcome applications from graduates with degrees in all subjects, not just sports related.

The Teaching Assistant role will report to the Head of KS3. Daily work will involve working closely with a number of pupils and the Head of Learning Skills (SENCo). The aim of this role is to develop an understanding of the educational needs of the pupils and facilitate their access to lessons.

The Sportsperson in Residence role will be managed by the Director of Sport.  Candidates will be expected to offer games coaching skills in Hockey and/or Netball.  Expertise and coaching qualifications in at least one other sport such as cricket, tennis and athletics would be an advantage.

The post demands high levels of self-motivation, enthusiasm, commitment and the ability to actively encourage pupils to partake in a wide range of activities.

We offer excellent working conditions set in beautiful grounds. Single (shared) accommodation can be provided. You will be expected to be involved in activities outside of timetabled lessons and sports sessions plus play a full part in the busy life of this boarding school, which will include two evenings per week and weekend duties. Terms are short and intense, and holidays long so that batteries can be recharged.

A job description and application form can be downloaded from our website http://www.pangbourne.com/Vacancies.

Closing date: 09.00am on Friday 11 February 2022.

Please apply as soon as possible as applications will be considered upon receipt; we reserve the right to interview/appoint before the closing date.

In line with our recruitment policy and for the protection of our pupils, you will be subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure and employment reference checks. Pangbourne College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects staff and volunteers to share this commitment. You must be eligible to work in the UK.
