Sports Coach/Learning Support (c. £16,000)
Fixed term starting September 2017
St Edward’s College is a Catholic, co-educational school and the Choir school to the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ of the King. It has approximately 1060 pupils and 125 staff and is highly successful, achieving ‘Outstanding’ in its three most recent Ofsted inspections. The school has an excellent Sports Complex which includes a sports hall, 25m swimming pool and dance studio as well as extensive grounds which incorporate a floodlit AstroTurf and grass pitches.
Pupils at St Edward’s achieve high academic standards. In 2016, 81% of pupils achieved 5 A* - C at GCSE and 57% of A Levels were graded A* - B. The majority of pupils go on to study at some of the UK’s most prestigious universities, including Oxbridge. The school also has a thriving extra-curricular programme that enables pupils to enjoy and succeed in sport, the performing arts and many other areas.
We are seeking to appoint a Sports Coach/Learning Support to support all aspects of the Sports Faculty including the extra-curricular sports activities and the support of pupils with Special Educational Needs during PE lessons. In addition, the Sports Coach/Learning Support will provide Cover as appropriate within the Sports Faculty and the wider College.
The role will ideally suit a recent graduate in Physical Education or related subject and will include a busy timetable in the Sports Faculty working alongside PE staff across the curriculum. A current Pool Lifeguard certificate would be advantageous. There will be a requirement to work outside normal school hours including Saturday mornings.
St Edward’s College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced DBS disclosure.
