£5,565 per annum 

(Apprenticeship rate - £4.30 per hour)

30 hours per week, term time only 

Monday to Friday 8.45am -3.15pm 

(after school sports sessions until 4pm 3 x a week

Jeavons Wood Primary School is looking to appoint a Sports Coach Apprentice from the 30th September 2021 for a fixed term of two years.

The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high-quality sports coaching sessions that are available to participants of all ages from the youngest children to adults.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Tennis, Football and Multi Sports, although a flair for all sports is required.

Working as part of the team your key duties within this role will include:

plan, deliver and monitor high-quality coaching activities that are progressive and reflective of the needs of the participants

be involved with creating new sports projects

You will be assigned a mentor with years of experience that will be able to help you to learn and develop throughout your apprenticeship. They will support, supervise and mentor you in every aspect of the work you will be undertaking during the duration of the apprenticeship.


Training will be provided in school and with an external provision leading to a L4/5 sports qualification.

Personal Qualities 

We are looking for a candidate that can demonstrate energy and enthusiasm. You will need to be reliable with a professional attitude to your work. You will have a desire to be a positive role model for children.

Desired skills

You will be organised with strong communication skills both written and verbal. The ability to work with your own initiative and also as part of a team is vital to this role.

Some experience in coaching is required.

Desired qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of A*-C/9-4 grades GCSE (or equivalent qualifications) in 

English and Maths.
