Gravel Hill Primary School is an oversubscribed two-form entry primary school with a morning nursery in the heart of Bexleyheath.  Gravel Hill is part of the Unity Academy Trust, along with Upland Primary School.  Our school has a vibrant feel; we are proud of our happy, welcoming and positive atmosphere and our strong community links.  The exciting and innovative curriculum at Gravel Hill ensures that our children enjoy coming to school and have a real love of learning.  Our children are encouraged to become independent learners; we work together to build confidence and self-esteem, allowing children to explore different activities in a variety of ways.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, self-motivated and hardworking Sports Coach to join our team of committed and hardworking staff. The successful candidate will:

  • be required to plan and provide sports lessons based on national requirements
  • hold a qualification at minimum Level 2 in the National Qualification Framework in English and Mathematics
  • be able to provide extra-curricular sporting opportunities for pupils including running after school sports activities
  • be required to attend sporting events with groups of pupils both during and out of school time
  • hold a minimum Level 3 qualification in a sport related discipline/coaching role

Staff well-being is very important to us and the Sports Coach will be supported with training and flexible hours where required.

This post is considered to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within the scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers.  We  therefore have a duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the person specification. These will be applied during the recruitment/selection and probationary stages.
