Job overview

The David Ross Education Trust are looking for a passionate and inspirational Sports Coach to support various Lincolnshire Academies on a casual basis. If you have a passion for working with and encouraging young people to participate in sports then we want to hear from you.

About the role

This role will have responsibility for improving participation and performance within Football, Netball, Hockey, Rugby or Athletics, before, during and/or after school.

The role will also work closely with the PE department to ensure the enrichment sessions are planned, reported, and delivered to a high standard.

The Trust is passionate about sport and we’re looking for coaches to work across our academies to increase participation, performance and opportunities for our pupils. Whether you are new to coaching or have many years experience, we may have a role for you. 

Salary & Benefits

£15 - £30 per hour dependant on qualifications and experience

Who we are looking for

  • Coaching qualification within Netball, Football, Athletics, Rugby or Hockey or significant experience
  • Passion for sport which could be drawn on to benefit the academy and pupils
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills
  • Ability to plan, organise and deliver meaningful coaching sessions
  • Positive role model, demonstrating self-motivation and mature interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a warm, respectful, and valued rapport with young people.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written). 
  • Able to use your own initiative to drive participation and improve performance
  • High personal and professional standards, including recognition of the confidentiality issues impacting upon work in a school 
  • Awareness of safeguarding legislation and issues and full commitment to safeguarding practice.
  • Ability to communicate with pupils, parents, staff and other members of the Trust
  • Enthusiastic and energetic approach, with a can-do attitude.
  • Ability to deliver and manage sessions with large numbers of students

The academy opened in September 2012 and is sponsored by the David Ross Education Trust. It is a smaller than average secondary school that can provide tailored support for your child. We are a non-selective school and believe that all students should have equal access to a good secondary education. We have a wide catchment area taking students from Skegness, the surrounding area and as far as Boston, Alford and Louth.

The trust has made a strong contribution to improving the school's facilities, strengthening its leadership and improving the quality of teaching. Pupils' achievement has improved since the last inspection, especially in English, Mathematics and Science. Pupils made good progress in these subjects last year. Middle-attaining pupils did particularly well. Some pupils made excellent progress. The school's arrangements to safeguard pupils are strong. Pupils feel safe and know how to stay safe.”
