Stamford School is offering a fantastic opportunity for recent Sports Graduates with ambitions for a career in teaching & coaching to join us for a one year programme at the Stamford School, beginning this academic year or September 2025. We have both residential and non-residential opportunities.
We would like to hear from Graduates of Sports Coaching & Science degrees or qualified coaches who have ambitions in teaching or coaching and can offer some leadership in our extracurricular programme, focusing on the major codes.
The applicant will become members of the sports staff, playing a full role in our busy independent day and boarding schools.
The programme will have an emphasis on taking a major sport each term and gaining experience in teaching and coaching within the curriculum & co-curricular program. Appropriate candidates can be invited to apply for a supported PGCE, apprenticeship, or 2nd year, in the Autumn term. We will then go through a formal process before Christmas and offer places to start in September '26.
Desired Criteria
- Personal experience of boarding or residential environment.
- Coaching /Officiating Qualifications.
- Experience in coaching at a performance level.
- Possess a Driving License (held for 2 years).
Essential Criteria
- Hold a relevant degree or suitable sports qualification.
- Relevant experience/qualifications in playing and/or coaching in hockey, netball, cricket or rugby.
- Experience and/or interest in working with young people and to pursue a career as a teacher or in a sports related field.
- Be empathetic and have an understanding and be able to recognise the needs of children in a boarding environment.
- Able to support students pastorally and role model appropriate behaviours.
- Willingness to contribute to extra-curricular sport and fixtures.
- Ability to communicate well with pupils from various age ranges.
