Location:          The Grange, Knossington, Leicestershire

Hours:              37 hours per week, term time only

Someone who can support the students and their families at an 7-18 co-educational SEMH special school. This support will be focused on attendance, safeguarding and welfare. It will involve multi-agency work, lone working and home visits on a regular basis would be perfect for this role. 

About the School:

The Grange Therapeutic School is an independent special school for young people aged 7 -18 years with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. The school is 38 week, term time only and has 16 residential places out of a total capacity of 85.  Our school is based in a Victorian country house in Leicestershire with stunning views and fantastic facilities to develop not only the educational, but also the social and emotional needs of our pupils. With access to woods and lakes on site, the school has an ethos about delivering a personalised curriculum tailored to, and driven by, the individuals. The school has two residential houses in the village with experienced, hardworking and skilled staff. At the last Ofsted inspection care was assessed as “good” with the impact of leaders rated “outstanding”.

About the Role

Duties and Responsibilities :

To support the attendance of the pupils, particularly those whose attendance is below expectations.

Home visits to pupil’s homes and recording all contact with pupils and parents /carers.

Supporting day to day care and welfare including safeguarding concerns working closely and communicating issues effectively with the Stakeholder Support Leader. 

Bespoke care for specific pupils requiring support with regard to attendance issues and occasions where there are difficulties with transportation to and from school.

Supporting the Stakeholder Support Leader in daily medication handling for specific pupils in school. Including accurate record keeping regarding the administration of prescribed medications.

Supporting the Stakeholder Support Leader with all school Immunisation programmes.

Responsible for dealing with any transport issues and communicating with transport directly to problem solve. Communicating effectively with parents/carers and teaching staff in school and recording actions and communications with transport and parents /carers.

General assistance on a day to day basis working closely with the Stakeholder Support Leader.

To use IT and computers in day to day work in order to facilitate more effective communication and presentation of information. This includes word processing, e-mail, electronic record keeping and information sharing, multi-media presentation and teaching.

We are looking for someone with drive, a willingness to go the extra mile and who are comfortable holding other professionals to account to improve the lives of the young people in our care. Strong organisational skills, team working and a sense of humour are also vital. 

Essential Criteria:

  • Educated to GCSE C or above in English and Maths
  • Experience of working in multi-disciplinary and or/multi agency teams alongside children and families
  • Skills using computer databases and common programmes
  • Interact with staff from all disciplines
  • Work Independently reliably & consistently with work agreed and managed at regular intervals
