About Star Tuition

Evidence shows that well-planned tuition, delivered by teachers with excellent subject knowledge, is one of the most effective means of supporting young people to achieve academic success.

Star is developing tuition programmes in mathematics to boost the performance of pupils in Year 11 who may be in danger of not securing the grade 5 GCSE qualifications of which they are capable.

Star tuition programmes will be delivered in mathematics, each for 30 hours in total. Tuition sessions will be delivered between January and April 2023, outside school hours and including sessions during the February and Easter school holidays. Each session will be between 90 and 120 minutes’ duration. The sessions will complement (not replace) regular school intervention sessions.

Tuition sessions will be delivered face-to-face in school. Tuition will be delivered to ‘Star’ pupils (those who need a boost to achieve grade 5). The maximum size of a Star tuition group will be 15 pupils.

Star tutors will be paid £2000 per 30 hour programme. Eden Girls' School, Waltham Forest is looking to recruit 3 tutors for mathematics.

Programme content will be devised by the school in order to complement its delivery of quality first teaching.
