Strategic Maths Lead and London South East Maths Hub Lead

A rare opportunity for an outstanding leader of maths education

Could you harness all the maths leadership and expertise within our school and beyond, and lead a collaborative network of professionals across hundreds of schools?  If so, you could join us as a dedicated maths specialist to promote excellence in mathematics education in London South East.

This combined role is suited to someone who wishes to progress his or her career within school and system leadership, yet still has a love of classroom-based teaching.

Redriff Primary City of London Academy is an outstanding two-form entry primary school partnered with the City of London Academy. Our motto is ‘Dockland Pride’ and we want all of our children to take pride in themselves, their families, their background and their heritage. Redriff is a remarkable school with maths results that sit in the top 3% in the country. It has a nationally accredited Autistic Spectrum Condition Resource Base and is a lead school for the School Direct training programme.

South East Maths Hub is one of six hubs within London, with the key priority of ensuring a quality maths education for all, underpinned by the principles of mastery. If you have a passion for maths, then this role certainly represents a unique opportunity to realise your professional goals.

The Maths Hubs programme is an exciting national initiative. It gathers all maths education professionals in a national network of 35 hubs, each led by an outstanding school or college, working in partnership with neighbouring schools, colleges, universities, maths experts and employers.

The London South East Maths Hub, covering Southwark, Lewisham, Greenwich, Bromley and Bexley (over 400 institutions) is led by Redriff Primary School. We are working on a number of innovative national projects including development of Mastery at Primary and Secondary level, the China England teacher exchange, and the development of the new level three Core maths qualification.

The Maths Hub Lead role is unique. We are at the forefront of developing maths teaching and consequently this position offers significant career opportunities as well as responsibilities and rewards. The programme allows colleagues to visit and influence a large number of schools, Further Education institutions and Sixth Form colleges.

As Assistant Headteacher you will be a key member of Redriff’s senior leadership team and have a role in further developing our school. You will have high expectations, a commitment to raising standards of achievement and up-to-date knowledge of effective teaching strategies. You will participate fully in the life of Redriff school, serving its children and community.

Redriff Primary School is sponsored by the Corporation of The City of London. It is part of the City of London Academies Trust, a multi-academy trust with schools in North, East and South London, recognised as one of the best performing in the country.  We combine the heritage and tradition of the Corporation of London with a genuinely innovative, enterprising and entrepreneurial ethos.  We’re also committed to providing first-rate training and development to all of our leaders, plus excellent career advancement opportunities within this evolving Trust.
