Location: Covent Garden, London.

Salary: £29,464-£32,709 inclusive of London Weighting. We will normally appoint at the bottom of the salary scale unless the successful candidate has relevant experience relating to the selection criteria over and above what is required.

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week spread from Monday – Saturday. Some additional weekend and evening work may be required when time off in lieu will apply.

Do you have experience of working in library environments and using library management systems e.g. Heritage? Then we would love to hear from you…

The role will include:

  • To assist in providing an effective and efficient Student Centre service which provides an outstanding experience for students, staff and the general public.
  • To line manage and supervise the Student Centre Assistants on a daily basis. 
  • To oversee the scheduling and monitoring of tasks and activities taking place in the Student Centre, ensuring tasks are completed in line with targets, objectives and deadlines. 
  • To deal with routine enquiries from students and staff and to deliver information and advice to students.
  • To work across a range of responsibilities in a task rota system including supporting users in the Student Centre.
  • To contribute to the smooth running of the college library service

What we are looking for (Please address the specific criteria below within your covering letter and attach to your CV file):

  • Excellent written and spoken English skills and a good level of numeracy skills. Have good IT skills, including MS Office Word and Excel - essential
  • Proven experience of line managing a team of staff and of performance management of staff - essential
  • Experience of working in a public or academic library environment and of using library management systems to management the circulation of resources (Experience of using Heritage is desirable) – essential
  • Have the confidence to deal with escalated problems as they arise
  • Can prioritise tasks and to meet deadlines.
