Job overview

Student Conduct Manager

Ref: REQ03059

Do you want to make a positive contribution to the student experience? Have you got excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to act with care and sensitivity? We are seeking applicants who will promote the University's values and can use their skills and expertise to contribute towards fostering a safe culture, creating a welcoming and inclusive community, and supporting all our students to succeed.

We are looking to appoint an additional Student Conduct Manager to join us in the work we are undertaking to enhance the operation of a new Code of Student Conduct and to ensure that our conduct procedures are implemented in an integrated and supportive way, ensuring fair, effective and timely outcomes for our students.

As part of this role and as a Conduct Investigator, you will consider, investigate and adjudicate on individual student cases of alleged misconduct. Following the introduction of our new Report & Support system, and associated campaigns, you will also be involved in the investigation of sensitive cases that may be emotionally challenging for students to disclose. You will need to have an approachable manner where students feel able to share their story. You will work closely with members in our Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity Service, and the Students' Union, to ensure students are appropriately supported during, and following the conclusion of, an investigation.

You will make a strong contribution to our commitment to continuous improvement and to ensuring our approach to the management of student conduct is fair, supportive and continues to meet the needs of the University community. You will lead and support work to review and develop the Code, informed by the latest external guidance and best practice, and contribute to a data-driven approach to monitoring the effectiveness of the University's conduct procedures and making recommendations for change.  You will also develop and deliver guidance and training to support members of the University community who have a role in the implementation of the Code.

You will bring relevant experience and the ability to act with care and sensitivity when dealing with confidential information.  You will be confident in working within a regulatory framework or procedure-driven environment, and have the ability to understand, interpret, and explain complex information.  You will be well organised and effective, with strong IT skills, and an ability to balance and prioritise casework and workload and meet deadlines.

This position is an ideal opportunity for someone who has worked in a similar role in a school, college, university or in an employee relations role. To ensure our Conduct Investigator team is representative of our student community, we would particularly welcome applications from those who identify as female or non-binary.

We would be open to applications from candidates wishing to be considered for a job-share.

Please use the ‘apply’ button to visit our website and make an application. You will also find a full job description and person specification which outlines the full duties, skills, qualifications and experience needed for this role plus more information relating to the post. We recommend you read this information carefully before making an application.  Applications should be made on-line, but if you would like advice or help in making an application, or need information in a different format, please telephone the Resourcing Team (01206 876559).
