Brantwood Specialist School is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ruskin Mill Trust and will offer a unique, holistic and student-centred approach to the education and care of 7-19 year olds, specialising in students who are on the Autistic spectrum and who have not succeeded in mainstream provision. The school will provide an educational experience based on the National and Steiner Waldorf Curriculum, embedding the practical skills therapeutic educational curriculum with accredited qualifications. Applications are invited for the following post, based at Brantwood Specialist School, Sheffield.

Student Engagement Coordinator

40 Hours per week, 40 weeks per year (Term Time only)

Grade 6 FTE £19,733 to £21,431 (salary will be pro rata - £17,312 to £18,800)

Job Purpose

To assist and support the implementation of a student engagement and positive approaches strategy across the school sites taking into consideration aesthetics, location and environment. The post holder will be expected to support the Student Engagement Manager in the delivery of strategies that achieve a high level of student engagement. 

Main Duties 

1. To support the Student Engagement Manager in embedding effective behaviour management and learning strategies and ensuring implementation within the student group. 

2. To take a proactive approach to incident and behaviour management ensuring all data is accurately reported in a timely manner and managers made aware. 

3. To support the effective embedding of PSTE throughout the curriculum in conjunction with both the Hiram Training and Development Coordinator and the Student Engagement Manager.

4. To ensure that all staff that the Student Engagement Coordinator is line manager for, have the appropriate skills, training and understanding to do their role based on the students that they work with. Ensuring that all performance management paperwork is completed in line with the policy, and where necessary making recommendations to the Student Engagement Manager.

5. To be a trainer across the Trust as required, including the Management of Actual or Potential Aggression, and other areas as required and agreed by the line manager and Principal.

6. To be a designated first aider, be able to administer medication and undertake other such role as agreed by the line manager.

To be successful in this role it would be beneficial to have experience working in an educational environment and experience with young people with special educational needs who find it difficult to engage in education and who find it difficult to manage their behaviours. 

Ruskin Mill Trust is committed to staff training development. You will also be expected to attend training sessions as required by the Trust, which may be outside of your usual working hours.
