Job overview

We are currently looking for a Student Experience Manager to play a key role in raising achievement by improving school attendance, as well as providing pastoral support to all students as a key member of the Student Experience Team. As Student Experience Manager you will provide a specialist service to assist the school in meeting its obligations and targets in relation to school attendance, with a strong focus on persistent absence. You will promote positive attitudes to students and families towards education and ensure that parents are made fully aware of their statutory responsibilities.

The role involves working closely with students and their families so excellent communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to resolve conflict and remain calm in sometimes challenging situations. You will make unsupervised contact with families in their own homes to assess the reasons impacting on the attendance of individual students, facilitating their return or access to regular full time education provision.

The position will involve working in close liaison with the Data Team to manage and process all in-year Admissions and Leavers and manage the Year 6 transition process. Robust interpersonal skills and organisational skills are therefore essential.  We are looking for an individual with previous experience working with young people and parents and carers, ideally in an education context. Experience working with professionals from other agencies and in a multi-agency context would be highly advantageous.

You will need to be highly proficient in IT applications and systems in order to compile reports and analyse statistical data for monitoring purposes. As this is a diverse and varied role, experience of organising and prioritising busy workloads as well as working as part of a team is required.  As a manager within the Student Experience Team, you will also need to develop an in-depth knowledge of the school behaviour system; how events are recorded on our MIS (Bromcom) and how parents are kept informed.

The successful applicant will provide administrative and operational support for two Deputy Heads of School, therefore strong administrative skills are crucial as well as an appreciation of absolute confidentiality of information received in a school. You will need to be able to demonstrate an understanding of issues that may affect a student’s ability to attend school and also a good understanding of Child Protection issues. Knowledge of attendance regulations would be beneficial but is not essential.

The Student Experience Manger will play a central role within the Student Experience Team and will line manage the Student Services Receptionist.

Hours of Work:    8.15am – 4.45pm Mon – Fri (with a 30 minute unpaid break) 40 hours per week during term time only + 71 additional hours to be worked on staff training days and during school holidays. Salaries are paid monthly, throughout the year.

Salary  Grade 8 – £24,174 – £26,822 (based on 37 hours / 52 weeks)

Actual Salary – £ 22,724- £25,212 per annum

Hampton Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will require an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure & Barring Service. Applicants will be asked to complete a Disqualification by Association Declaration when invited to interview if they will work in early years provision or in later years provision for children who have not yet attained the age of 8 or if their role is directly concerned in the management of such early or later years provision.

Promotion Opportunities:  As an expanding trust there are permanent posts and opportunities for promotion which arise regularly.
