We have an exciting opportunity for a Student Services Advisers to join our highly rated Student Services team at Derby College Group. The new Adviser will be a key member of the team providing vital support and information, advice and guidance (IAG) to students, and will report to Laura Chera, the Student Services Manager.

You will provide a high-quality IAG service to Derby College’s students from the beginning to the end of their student journey and will have a positive impact on their time at the College. You will deliver an outstanding student support experience, ensuring excellent customer service is delivered at all stages.

Essential Competencies:

  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Good communication skills at all levels both in writing and orally
  • Able to deliver excellent customer service
  • IT literate and comfortable working with different IT systems and processes, including Microsoft Office
  • Highly organised with good attention to detail, achieving high levels of accuracy
  • Able to prioritise work and meet deadlines

Essential Knowledge/Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Data Protection and GDPR legislation, ensuring full compliance at all times
  • Awareness of the College as a business and its Corporate image
  • Awareness of Further Education within the education structure
  • NVQ Level 3 in Advice and Guidance (or willing to work towards)
  • L2 Qualifications including Maths and English (Grade A-C or equivalent)

If you hold a NVQ Level 3 in advice and guidance that is great, but if not, we will provide you with the support to achieve this qualification.

Derby College is a large general further education college with four sites in or near the city of Derby. It supports around 26,000 learners, who choose from more than 1,000 full-time and part-time apprenticeship, A-level, BTEC and NVQ courses.   

Derby College was established as a single institution in 2002 by merging three further education colleges: Mackworth Tertiary College, Wilmorton Tertiary College and Broomfield Agricultural College. A merger between South East Derbyshire College and Derby College was approved in 2010. Heavy investment has been made by the college in its teaching and learning facilities, from the fully equipped teaching kitchens at the Roundhouse campus to the high-tech science labs at the Joseph Wright Centre and the Equestrian Centre at the Broomfield Hall campus.
