Job overview

Your chance to be part of our new academy! We have a great opportunity for a caring, personable and compassionate individual to join us in the role of Student Services Manager at the Leigh Academy Blackheath as we expand our intake for September 2019.  This is an additional position and you will work closely with our existing Student Services Manager in ensuring we deliver first-rate pastoral care for our students.  Responsible for managing the social, moral and spiritual well-being of the students across the college communities (in line with the Every Child Matters Agenda), with a particular focus on attendance, our successful candidate will liaise with parents, carers and outside agencies as required so strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.  Working directly with the Principal, Emma Smith, this is a great time to join us as we continue our journey!

The working basis of the role is Term Time plus 1 week of inset, 37 hours per week.

About Leigh Academy Blackheath:  Leigh Academy Blackheath is part of Leigh Academies Trust, one of the most successful medium sized, multi academy trusts in the UK. Having opened in September 2018 with a Year 7 cohort of 180 students, we will reach full capacity in September 2022 with 900 students in Years 7-11, and 250 in our Sixth Form.  Our vision is based on providing for our inclusive community with ambition and drive at the heart of all that we do.  We embrace challenge and collaboration; at Leigh Academy Blackheath we are a family and together we cultivate a culture of belonging.

Being part of the Leigh Academies Trust:  Being part of a successful multi-academy trust allows the academy to share best practice and collaborate with colleagues from a number of other academies in the local area.  As part of the 'cluster' structure all of our academies are grouped together in key geographical area to enable them to be able to support each other and share resources.  It also offers staff better access to career opportunities as the Trust is committed to developing and promoting from within wherever possible.  We also want the Trust to be an organisation where people can enjoy teaching and become the type of teacher they aspire to be.  For more information on working for the Trust please visit our careers pages.

Diversity at our core:  As a Trust we are passionate about diversity and recognise that as individuals we all bring something unique to the role regardless of age, gender, race, beliefs or disabilities which is why we treat all of our people equally, without compromise.

The academy is committed to safeguarding children and successful candidates will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.  Our commitment to safeguarding is underpinned by robust processes and checks which are in place across the Trust.
