About the role:
We are seeking to appoint an experienced, hardworking and committed individual to work with the Director of SEN and Inclusion and provide first line support for the pastoral system of the school.
This job involves working with the Director for Inclusion to lead and manage our Student Support Centre; a safe and inclusive quiet space where students with a range of additional educational needs receive small group and / or individual academic support to enable them to make further progress in their mainstream lessons. The successful candidate will need to build positive relationships with vulnerable students and steer them toward academic success. They will be involved in the referral of students to the centre and be clear about how to measure the impact of their intervention. They will need to work alongside mainstream teachers, pastoral care workers, family support worker and lead a Learning Mentor who supports with the delivery of academic support within the centre.
About you:
The successful candidate will need to be have excellent communication skills and the ability to establish positive relationships with parents, students, staff and external agencies. It is essential that the candidate demonstrates an ability to work with a range of people at all levels.
You should have a background which includes working with young people in the 11-18 age groups and have relevant further/higher educational qualifications. A degree is desirable and knowledge of wellbeing initiatives and restorative approaches would also be an advantage. Candidates should hold a clean driving license.
You must have strong communication skills and be calm and efficient under pressure. You should be highly motivated and be able to work on your own initiative. You must be able to work in attention to detail and deliver a flexible approach to staff, students and parents.

Grey Court is a popular, thriving and well established oversubscribed secondary school, situated in Ham, Richmond having 1,600 students on record.
Grey Court School is a mixed secondary school serving pupils between the ages of 11-18. Furthermore our Grey Court sixth form provides an outstanding post 16 education which includes A levels and vocational qualifications at BTEC level 3. Our results are consistently amongst the best in state schools in London. Each year we help students secure places at the top universities in the UK, including Oxbridge and other Russell Group universities. Following our latest Ofsted inspection in February 2024 Ofsted concluded that Grey Court “is a school where all pupils flourish and are kept happy and safe”, and that "all pupils experience a high quality of education". This built on the platform of excellence established when our school was judged as outstanding in all categories initially in March 2013 and then again in January 2018.

Teacher Training
Grey Court provides a comprehensive professional development programme for trainee, early career and established teachers. This is further enhanced through our membership of the Wandle Teaching School Hub; an alliance of schools in the London boroughs of Kingston, Merton, Richmond and Wandsworth, formed to provide ongoing development for teachers at every stage of their career.
Early Career Teachers
We work closely with the Institute of Education and the Wandle Teaching School Hub to provide a two year training programme for early career teachers (ECTs). This highly structured, in-house programme involves close mentoring, support and encouragement of new teachers, and exceeds the statutory standards of the DfE’s early career framework. Many of our ECTs go on to build successful careers at Grey Court.
Ongoing Teacher Training
We actively encourage staff to continue their professional development. This could be through courses provided by the Wandle Teaching School hub, through our in-house training and learning sessions, or through more formal routes such as the national professional qualifications.
Initial Teacher Training
As part of the Grey Court teaching alliance we co-ordinate placements for trainee teachers in schools across south west London and Surrey. Each year we work closely with universities and the Department for Education (DfE) to place post graduate (PGCE) and School Direct applicants either in our own, or in other local schools.
