St Joseph’s School is currently seeking a Student Support Officer to work with students with diverse learning needs, including students with disabilities and assist teachers with learning activities. This is a part-time fixed term contract for Term 1, 5 days/wk - Mon to Fri (28.35 per week).

Based in a classroom environment, we are looking for a collaborative and flexible person who can provide accommodations to students including scribing, reading and support. You will be capable of following literacy, numeracy and social intervention plans; have an ability to develop, find and use appropriate resources, maintain student records and portfolios.

To be successful in the role, you will be proactive and patient with an ability to act and respond calmly when students may be distressed or upset. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be organised, maintain confidentiality while working in a collaborative environment. A Certificate III in Educational Support (or any equivalent qualification) and/or significant experience or knowledge in working with children with special needs is highly desirable.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education;
  • currently hold or be eligible to hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card; and
  • be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.

Position Tenure:   Fixed Term

Weeks Worked:  School term weeks only (holidays unpaid)

Tenure Duration (If Fixed Term):   One Term

Total Paid Hours (per wk) & Days Required:   5 days / wk - Mon to Fri (28.35 hrs/wk)

Salary Level, Range or Hourly Rate:   School Officer Level 3 - Hourly rate is $27.65

Employment Conditions:   Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement 2015-2019


This position involves working with children.  The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child related employment in accordance with the law.
