Job overview

Langdon College is the only national Independent Day and Residential Specialist College for Jewish students aged 16 to 25 years with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Situated in North Manchester, the College is placed in the heart of an active and supportive Jewish community.

Student Support Workers - Part & Full Time vacancies available, (between 5 & 38.5 hours per week)

  • Must hold or be willing to work towards NVQ Level 3
  • Must be willing to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and Shabbat. Some sleep-in duties will be required
  • To work with our students and help them with their independence and daily living skills, whilst supporting them maintain a Jewish lifestyle and ensure their religious and spiritual needs are met.

The following applies to all posts

  • Experience of working with students with learning difficulties is desirable
  • The ability to work with a wide range of students including those with more complex needs and challenging behaviour
  • To support pastoral and personal care needs
  • Be willing to drive College vehicles (if applicable)
  • A willingness to participate in training, work towards appropriate qualifications & professional development
  • A commitment to provide a high standard of support to the students whilst promoting dignity and independence

Because of the sensitive nature of the duties of these posts, a full enhanced DBS Disclosure and 2 references will be necessary.
