Description A Studies Coordinator has specific responsibility for the management of a Key Learning Area or combination of subjects as specified by the position. This position in 2019 will be a 3 point allowance. The Coordinator is a member of the School’s Leadership Team, which comprises the Principal, Assistant Principal (s) and other Coordinators. As a member of the Leadership Team the Coordinator will offer assistance and support in the :
• day to day operation of the school
• promotion of the Catholic ethos of the school
• promotion of the Josephite Charism of the College
• initiation of and contribution to quality teaching and learning programs
• promotion of an effective pastoral care / wellbeing program
• implementation of the school’s policies and procedures
• promotion of the hospitality, accessibility and visibility of the management team St Joseph’s College Lochinvar currently offers a Catholic co-education for students from Years 7-11, however, from 2019 will move into full implementation of a 7-12 school structure. St Joseph’s was founded in 1883 by the Sisters of St Joseph and is situated 10 minutes west of Maitland and 40 minutes from Newcastle via the Hunter Expressway.
Position Requirements A Studies Coordinator must be able to demonstrate:
• the ability to fulfil the requirements of the Diocesan Faith Education Accreditation Policy. Successful applicants will be required to be accredited within four (4) years of appointment.
• an understanding of and a clear commitment to the philosophy and objectives of Catholic education
• a deep knowledge of the content and related content of the Mathematics syllabi
• high level of proficiency as a classroom teacher
• sound understanding of pedagogy and the changing nature of learners
• commitment to ongoing professional learning
• the capacity to lead teachers in the implementation of the Mathematics syllabi, including a focus on catering for the diverse learning needs of students
• an understanding of accelerated learning in Mathematics
• the capacity to lead and manage a faculty, including the active supervision and evaluation of teaching programs, assessment data, registers and resources
• the capacity to work with staff to set personal and faculty goals linked to the College goals
• the ability to implement and monitor assessment and reporting programmes which incorporate a standards referenced approach
• an understanding of NESA cross curriculum priorities and how these can be addressed in teaching programs
• the capacity and willingness to lead staff in professional learning and nourish professional learning communities
• high level proficiency in the use of technology as a teaching and organisational tool
• the ability to support staff in adopting a range of strategies in order to provide high quality ongoing pastoral care of students
• the capacity and commitment to contribute to and work collaboratively with, the College Management Team
• high level interpersonal, organisational and communication skills
Essential Criteria Applicant must
• be appropriately qualified as a four year trained teacher
• record current NESA and Working With Children number on application.
• evidence of completion of Anaphylaxis training certificate must be supplied. (https://etraining.allergy.org.au/login/index.php)
• applicants will need to comply with the Accreditation to Work Teach and Lead (formerly FEA ) and will need to work towards Accreditation at Category C – Accreditation for Leadership. Note: To start or return to working as a teacher in a NSW school, you must be accredited by NESA.

Conditions of EmploymentThe position attracts an allowance at the level of Coordinator 2. Initial appointment will be for two years, renewable for a further four years subject to a satisfactory performance review. This position in 2019 will be a 3 point allowance.
