Job overview

Leeds City College are looking for a Study Support Coach in Maths & English to work in our School of Public Services. 

The School of Public Services offer a range of study programmes across levels 1 to 3 to over 400 learners. 

Our curriculum offer includes: 

  • Level 1, Level 2 & Level 3 Diplomas for entry to the Uniformed Services.
  • Bespoke 19+ Level 3 Diplomas to enable learners to take their first step into a chosen career. 
  • A Level 3 Military Preparation cohort of learners aspiring to join the armed forces. 
  • Opportunities to work with our partners, West Yorkshire Police, Yorkshire Ambulance Services and West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue as part of the 999 Aspire Programme.

Alongside this we support learners to achieve a grade 4 or above in their Maths GCSE to enable them to move into their desired job or career.

What you will do 

The main elements of the role is to:

  • Support learners on a 1-1 or small group basis with their Maths - to assist the teachers in the sessions to support learners with their maths and provide clear explanations and strategies for learners to use to use to help them achieve.
  • To log support delivered and liaise with teachers to identify learners & type of support required.
  • To be able to plan short group sessions and resources so that learning is differentiated and meets the learners need.
  • To follow schemes of learning set out by teachers and support where needed.
  • To liaise with vocational staff ensure the learners responsible for attend and are supported to achieve their qualification.

 

Your profile

The ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of GCSE Maths with at least a level 2 (Grade C/4 or above) qualification in Maths and someone who is passionate about supporting learners to achieve.

They must have excellent communication skills and a can do attitude and able to work well as part of a team.
