Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of student support through raising aspirations and performance and helping to build ambition, confidence and resilience in young people. 

Confidentiality, flexibility and a supportive and empathetic approach towards students are key skills required in this role in order to provide a high standard of support to individual students with their specific care and educational needs.

The successful candidates will have the knowledge, understanding and experience of working with young people in a similar environment and must be willing to undertake further training relevant to the post.

New College Pontefract is an outstanding place to work and study, regularly near the top of UK sixth from College results tables and awarded outstanding in all areas by Ofsted in 2023. The majority of our A level students progress to higher education at over 60 different universities, including Oxford and Cambridge.

New College Pontefract delivers primarily A Level provision, alongside a range of Applied General Qualifications and GCSE Maths. We provide students with over 60 courses to choose from, this along with our highly qualified and enthusiastic teachers ensures our students receive an outstanding learner experience. We provide a wide range of extra-curricular and personal development activities, including sports and college production; we want New College Pontefract to be a vibrant community that students and staff will be eager to join.

The college is outward facing and believes strongly in collaboration, being the lead partner in our teaching school, collaborating with over 30 schools and colleges. The teaching school creates opportunities for staff to access a range of CPD, to deliver on CPD events and to support colleagues and departments in other schools/colleges.
