Job overview

Subject Leader - Art

The post is full-time fixed term position for one academic year for a teacher with enthusiasm and drive who wishes to work in an academic sixth form college.  This is an excellent opportunity for anyone who wants to lead a team of dedicated and innovative teachers who promote a lively, student-centred learning environment where a strong commitment to meeting the needs of individual students is of paramount importance.

There are currently 50 students studying in year 12 and 60 students in year 13 who are taught by one full time subject leader and one part-time tutor, supported by two additional part time technicians.  Fine Art is one of three visual arts subjects offered at King Edward’s, alongside Graphic communication and Textiles, all of whom follow the AQA specification.  In addition to timetabled lessons, subject staff work with students in additional workshop time to give students the opportunity to develop their independent projects.  The majority of our students choose to attend university after their time at college, with many seeking courses in visual arts.

The College is fully committed to supporting all members of staff through continuing professional development and in-service training.

Further details may be obtained from the College:  telephone: 01384 398100, email:    hr@kedst.ac.uk  or via the college website: www.kedst.ac.uk.

Closing date for applications is midday Monday 19 March 2018. CVs cannot be accepted.

It is anticipated interviews will take place on 27 March 2018.
