We require a committed, dynamic and inspirational Subject Leader for Dance with the drive to help us take our success to the next level, both in the classroom and in practical aspects of the subject. The successful candidate will use their experience, extensive subject knowledge and vision to deliver ambitious and high quality learning and teaching opportunities to enable our students to achieve outstanding outcomes.
The Dance department has worked hard to develop a tradition of success in GCSE Dance and the school is rightly proud of its achievements. At Parliament Hill we currently offer GCSE Dance and Dance Leadership programmes in key stage 4. Experience of successfully teaching the new specification of Dance GCSE in both practical and theoretical elements is essential.
At key stage 3, dance is a fixed curriculum offer for every student through year 7-9. In year 7, students will have the opportunity to develop their skills, choreography and performance during a double lesson which will lead them into year 8&9 where they will work through a rotation of curriculum offers in both Dance and PE. We offer an excellent range of extra-curricular activities that run alongside competitive sport for key stage 3 and 4. The successful applicant would be expected to run lunch and after school Dance clubs, enter local and out of borough dance competitions, provide opportunities to showcase student achievement as well as organise and attend offsite workshops and events to continue to develop our students’ passion for dance and performance.
The successful candidate would be required to contribute to continued improvements in progress and student attainment, work alongside the Head of PE to develop whole school, departmental and dance specific initiatives as well as taking on responsibility of leading a small team. The post holder will be required to teach in the PE department and should state any other sporting areas that they could offer.
