Whatever your role, you should know you are contributing to achieving our vision of inspiring the next generation of young people to be the best they can in whatever they choose. Our aim is to be the country’s leading academy chain, committed to delivering the highest educational standards alongside an unrivalled package of sporting and cultural enrichment, including events such as the DRET Spring, Summer and Winter Cups, Music Cup, volunteering trips abroad, and regular trips/visits throughout the year.

We are incredibly lucky to be able to work alongside outstanding organisations and individuals who are happy to share their expertise and skills in supporting the David Ross Foundation's vision to give children better life chances through access to the best education and support we can give them.

While each academy is unique, we share common goals, aspirations, values and methods that enable us to work collaboratively and collectively to achieve our mission. We operate regional hubs, whereby academies work with other schools who are part of the Trust so we can share skills and knowledge, allowing them to benefit and learn from each other. We offer high quality programmes for CPD and Leadership Development delivered through our Teaching School Alliance to support our practitioners to deliver high quality teaching and learning across our academies.

About Havelock Academy

Located in the town of Grimsby, Lincolnshire, Havelock Academy is a co-educational secondary school. Havelock has around 1000 pupils aged 11-18, making it slightly larger than the average secondary school. The school has an economically diverse catchment area, a fact reflected in its student intake. Originally known as Havelock school, it was established in the 1960s, adopting its current name in 2007 upon its conversion to an academy. The school is part of the David Ross Education Trust, a multi-academy trust responsible for a large number of schools across the Midlands and the north of England.

Principal

Ms Emma Marshall

Values and Vision

Havelock Academy works closely with its numerous partner primary schools, as well as the David Ross Education Trust, in order to provide the best possible range of opportunities for its pupils and to properly manage their move into secondary school with the bare minimum of disruption. The school sets a high academic and behavioural standard for its students to strive towards, with the motto, "Broadening Horizons" at the heart of all aspects of academy life. There is a strong enrichment programme to support the trust-wide curriculum and provide students with a wide range of opportunities in and out of the classroom.  Teacher CPD is embedded into the timetable, with a range of internal and external programmes available for career development.

Ofsted

“Students’ personal development is promoted well throughout the curriculum. Students appreciate the extra time their teachers and other adults are giving to help them do better. This is ensuring students are doing well. Students’ behaviour is good and they are keen to learn. This makes a strong contribution to their good progress.”
