Subject Leader for Mathematics

Blessed Hugh Faringdon Catholic School is a successful and oversubscribed school judged as “Good” by Ofsted.
We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, dynamic and inspirational Subject Leader who has the ability to lead our Department in its journey from Good to Outstanding.
You should be an expert practitioner who is committed to continuing the journey of raising levels of achievement for all our students and be able to build on the school’s successes in order to move the department forward. You will demonstrate clear leadership qualities and be able to convey your own passion for teaching and learning. You must also be able to teach Mathematics up to A Level, including Further Mathematics.
The Department has experienced a year-on-year upward trend of progress and attainment figures and is housed in a suite of 6 classrooms, including a specialist 6th Form teaching room.
All students in Years 7&8 have embarked upon the new MyMaths programme with student in Years 9,10 and 11 following the Edexcel 9-1 specification, at Higher or Foundation tier.
We also follow the Edexcel course at A level and for Further Mathematics, where we offer Further Pure 1, Further Mechanics 1 and Decision 1 as option choices.
We have also developed a wide range of extra-curricular and enrichment opportunities including
- Maths Challenges across the school
- It All Adds up conference for Girls at the Mathematical Institute in Oxford
- Taking Maths Further at Wellington College
- Work with the Royal Institute.
