We are looking for an outstanding and dynamic classroom practitioner who is committed to academic excellence and high classroom standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in continuing to drive forward school improvement by working with the Subject Leader for Science to ensure the continued success of the department.

The successful candidate will have the vision to deliver high standards of teaching and learning and will lead the Chemistry curriculum development, planning, teaching and assessment to secure excellent outcomes.

Easington Academy is now one of the top 5 highest performing schools in County Durham. In 2015:

  • 68% of students achieved 5 A* - C including English and Maths (first entry)
  • Over 20% of students achieved 3 A* - A GCSE grades
  • In English 95% of students made expected progress and 55% of students made more than expected progress
  • In Maths 75% of students made expected progress with 39% of students making more than expected progress
  • 100% of students achieved A* - C in Languages, Biology, Chemistry and Physics
  • Over 55% of students achieved A* - A grades in separate sciences
  • The Headteacher became a National Leader of Education and the Academy was designated as a National Support School
  • The Academy received £100,000 as the winner of the Pupil Premium Award 2015 (North East)

In parental surveys conducted throughout 2015, 99% of our parents said that they would recommend our school.

The successful candidate will join a team of committed and highly professional teachers in a supportive school which has an extremely successful academic record. He/she will be required to teach across the ability range at Key Stage 3-4.

About the North East Learning Trust (NELT)
