Job overview

The study of the past teaches us who we will become. We live in an age of unprecedented social and technological change; the skills, knowledge and perspective that History inculcates have never been more relevant or necessary to support the development of a successful and balanced future citizen.

To lead our History department we seek a subject champion; an individual who can inspire awe and wonder through the curriculum, experiences and contextual application of History. We are looking for a special individual who will build on the existing successes of the department to foster an even greater future for the subject.

The successful applicant will be a creative and dynamic leader who will ensure the highest attainment in students’ outcomes, who will support colleagues to flourish to their absolute potential and to who will champion their subject with contagious passion and enthusiasm. They may have prior experience of middle leadership but will certainly be looking to develop and grow through extensive and ongoing professional development. They will also be aspirational for their students, their staff and themselves, expecting that all stakeholders will work towards personal betterment at all times.

If you have evidence of successful teaching in secondary education and feel you have the character and moral purpose to really improve children's futures please download the further information. Visits are welcomed and can be arranged via email to s.dosanjh@starbank.bham.sch.uk or phone to 07545 501203. Closing date: Tuesday 21st May 2019
