SUBJECT LEADER OF MUSIC

Required from Easter 2022 at our successful and oversubscribed school. This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding teacher of Music to step into a leadership role, for which there is a payment of TLR 2b, currently £4,783 per annum.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated to achieving the best possible outcomes for our students and will be a committed team player who is determined to make a significant contribution to raising attainment across the Music department. There is a whole school production, which takes place once every two years, and you will work collaboratively with the Dance and Drama departments to produce this; in addition we would wish the successful candidate to hold regular music concerts and take part in a number of local events and festivals.

Our Music Department currently has:

  • Self-contained Music block with 5 good sized practice rooms
  • Large stock of orchestral instruments in excellent condition for hire/ loan to students
  • Class set of keyboards or pianos in all practice rooms
  • Various instruments, including a set of African djembe, set of ukuleles, 6 drum kits (4 acoustic and 2 electric), Guitars (acoustic, electric and bass), a large selection of percussion and boomwhackers
  • 15 iPad’s
  • Team of 6 peripatetic tutors providing 30 hours individual tuition per week

About Stour Valley Community School

Stour Valley Community School is a co-educational secondary school for pupils aged 11-16, located in Clare, near Sudbury in Suffolk.

Stour Valley Community School first opened in 2011, as one of the UK’s first free schools. Founded by local parents who felt that a new secondary school was needed in the area, Stour Valley was built on the site of an old middle school. Smaller than the average secondary school, Stour Valley boasts an array of modern facilities.
