Subject Leader - Psychology

We are looking for a Subject Leader of Psychology to join our team from September 2018, teaching within a highly professional and supportive environment. Poole High School is an 11-19 comprehensive school serving families throughout the historic town of Poole. As the largest school in this selective catchment, we pride ourselves on the fact that all students thrive in this caring and collaborative team.  Our students are well motivated and co-operative, and the team spirit in this large school is second to none.

Our students are well motivated and examination performance at Key Stages 4 and 5 has rapidly progressed over the last 5 years. This year, we achieved the school’s best ever GCSE results and were placed first in the post 16 league table in Poole for value added. Consequently, we are within the top 25% of schools nationally at KS4 and KS5 for progress and Poole local authority is in the top decile nationally for attainment 8.    

Results in the Psychology department compare very favourably with national averages. At A level we had an ALPs rating in 2017 of 2 at AS and at A2, results we are very proud of. At GCSE 71% of students achieved a very respectable grade A*-C.

The school has delightful landscaped grounds and is very well resourced, being located at the heart of the town with excellent access by road and public transport. The quality of life in Poole is good and there is easy access to diverse range of cultural and scenic attractions.
