Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a Subject leader for Spanish  . The successful candidate will  be committed to contributing to the development of high quality provision for students within our faculty.

The Modern Languages team is a successful faculty currently offering French and German. We are now hoping to introduce Spanish into the curriculum from September 2022 to further diversify the range of languages on offer to our students. We have historically offered trips abroad in KS3 and KS4 to enhance the experience on offer and plans are underway to re-launch these for the new academic year. The faculty is well resourced, friendly, committed and strives constantly to develop and improve methods for enhancing student learning, enjoyment and achievement.

Students have 2 language lessons a week  in Years 7 – 9 and 3 lessons per week in Years 10 and 11. We have some of the best facilities in the area having fully re-built our school in 2018. This not only provides both staff and students with everything they can expect for modern teaching and learning, but also gives us exceptional environmental credentials.

Our School is a warm and caring community for all students. We celebrate diversity and believe strongly in providing an environment where all young people thrive.

Our core purpose is to support students of all abilities and backgrounds to develop high aspirations and achieve their potential. We encourage all students to work hard and aim high in order to succeed both academically and personally.

We nurture and build ambition for our students. Whilst your children grow into young people with us, we will open opportunities, broaden horizons and introduce challenges ensuring that in our five years together they are becoming the best that they can be.

We fully recognise that students have different interests, dreams, abilities and needs and our school’s broad and flexible curriculum reflects this. Staff are qualified and experienced in ensuring that students achieve their full potential regardless of their starting points. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum from Year 7 through to Year 13. Our curriculum extends beyond the classroom and our students are encouraged to participate in many other learning experiences that do not begin and end on the bell.

All students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and conduct. Discipline in the school is clear and consistent to ensure an orderly and effective learning environment in which we expect high standards of work, behaviour and uniform.

We are in the High Peak district of Derbyshire, within easy commuting distance for Manchester and Sheffield.  We have strong Community links with Glossop and Hadfield and excellent links with community providers.
