Job overview

Required from September 2023

Inner London Pay Scale

Lilian Baylis Technology School is a mixed, 11-18, inner city school located in a new building at Vauxhall, London. We are a multicultural community school, which serves the local community, and we view this as one of our key strengths. We value the diversity of our school, and strive to ensure that our students feel represented, both at whole school level and within the curriculum.

In addition to this, we have outstanding facilities for our students and teachers, including electronic whiteboards and visualisers in all rooms, as well as laptops for all staff. In addition, teachers have a consistent room base for all their lessons, enabling them to make it a celebration for their subject and students.

Our students are well behaved and ambitious, and they also value the school. All visitors to the school always comment on the calm and productive atmosphere of lessons. Our last OfSTED inspection stated we were ‘outstanding in all aspects’.

In addition, student progress at both GCSE, BTEC and A Level is very good, and has been consistently so. In particular, we are highly effective at bridging the gaps between disadvantaged students and non-disadvantaged students. We run an extensive intervention programme, at Key Stage 3, which means students who have low prior attainment are able to work on “catching-up” with their peers by the time they reach Key Stage 4.

At KS4 Business is a popular subject, taken up by over half the year group at the end of year 9. We offer both Business GCSE and BTEC, so as to cater for a range of interests. At KS5 we offer Economics A Level, Business BTEC at Level 3 and we are introducing T Levels from September 2023. Those that study Economics and/or Business at Key Stage 5 generally go on to study a related degree at university, or are successful in gaining a higher level apprenticeship.

We are looking for a well-qualified and enthusiastic colleague to join our Vocational Education team as we expand the department to fulfil the growing demand for new courses, particularly at Key Stage 5. The successful candidate will teach across key stages 4 & 5. This is an exciting opportunity for both a teacher who is at the beginning of their career, or a teacher who is more established and looking for a fresh challenge. We offer a highly supportive and committed working environment within a culture of success. Our CPD provision is extensive and follows a research driven approach, which means that our teachers are at the leading edge of professional practice.

Further details about the post, including how to apply, are on the TES jobsite.  Go to www.tes.co.uk/jobs then insert Lilian Baylis into the keywords search.
