Lilian Baylis Technology School is a mixed, 11-18, inner city school located in a new building at Vauxhall, London. We are a multicultural community school, which serves the local community, and we view this as one of our key strengths. We value the diversity of our school, and strive to ensure that our students feel represented, both at whole school level and within the curriculum. 

In addition to this, we have outstanding facilities for our students and teachers, including electronic whiteboards and visualisers in all rooms, as well as laptops for all staff.  

Our students are well behaved and ambitious, and they also value the school.  All visitors to the school always comment on the calm and productive atmosphere of lessons. Our last OfSTED inspection stated we were ‘outstanding in all aspects’.

In addition, student progress at both GCSE, A Level and in our Level 3 BTEC courses is above national average, and has been consistently so. In particular, we are highly effective at bridging the gaps between disadvantaged students and non-disadvantaged students. We run an extensive intervention programme, at Key Stage 3, which means students who have low prior attainment are able to work on “catching-up” with their peers. 

At KS3 the English team has developed a highly praised diversified curriculum that engages and empowers our students. At KS4 all students study the AQA syllabus, and at KS5 we offer A-level English Literature, as well as BTEC Level 3 Media course.  Most students stay in our school 6th form and both English Lit and Media are very popular subjects at Key Stage 5. Those that study it generally go on to study a related degree at university, including a substantial proportion of students gaining places at Russell Group Universities. 

We are looking for a well-qualified and enthusiastic colleague to join our English team as we expand it further. The successful candidate will teach across all key stages. This is an exciting opportunity for both a teacher who is at the beginning of their career, or a teacher who is more established and looking for a fresh challenge. We would also be happy for Lead Practitioners to apply for this role, if they have the relevant expertise and experience.
