Job overview

LILIAN BAYLIS TECHNOLOGY SCHOOL

“Outstanding in all aspects”

OfSTED 2013

Subject Teacher: History

Required from September 2018

We are proud of our Humanities Team at Lilian Baylis Technology School. History is a popular option at KS4 and KS5 and results are good.  The Humanities team offers a wide range of courses including GCSE History, A level History, GCSE Geography, GCSE RS, A level Law, A level Philosophy, A level Psychology and A level Sociology.

You will be an outstanding History teacher with the ability to teach the subject at GCSE and A level who is eager to try new ideas in a supportive environment.

If you are an NQT you will have a reduced timetable and support from a leading practitioner.

This is a unique opportunity to join a school that genuinely believes in the importance of Humanities. Each teacher has their own room with a class set of chrome books. The SOW are thorough and at KS3 there is a strong emphasis on visits to inform the curriculum

Lilian Baylis Technology School is a mixed, 11-19, inner city multicultural school located in a new building at Vauxhall, London. We have outstanding facilities including electronic whiteboards in all rooms and laptops for all staff.

In February 2013 OfSTED stated we were ‘outstanding in all aspects’. In addition our KS2-4 Value Added has been in the top 10% for the last 10 years and our KS4-5 Value Added was in the top 5% last year for academic and applied courses.

Further details about the post, including how to apply, are on the TES jobsite. Go to www.tes.co.uk/jobs then insert Lilian Baylis into the keywords search. These details can also be found at www.lilianbaylis.com. Application forms must be completed online by 10am Monday 5th March 2018.  For an informal conversation or to arrange an informal visit contact Gary Phillips (Headteacher) on head@lilianbaylis.com

The successful candidate will be required to abide by the school policy for safeguarding children including an enhanced Disclosure Barring Service check.

OfSTED 2023 Stated:

“The school’s motto to ‘educate, empower and excel’ provides the inspiration behind the school’s curriculum. Leaders are determined that all pupils have the tools to read, question and have a personal view on contemporary and academic issues.”

“This is a very happy and caring school. Leaders know pupils and their families well. One pupil, typical of many, described the school as ‘home.’"

“Leaders have created a broad and highly ambitious curriculum which provides pupils with the knowledge and skills they need for their next steps."

“Leaders work hard to remove any barriers to learning so that all pupils can be successful. All pupils excel and flourish here. Pupils are safe.”

“Leaders provide a curriculum that is broad and ambitious. Across the curriculum, the breadth of coverage far exceeds the expectations of the national curriculum.”

“Leaders are robust in their checks on pupils’ attendance and follow up any absences swiftly. All pupils, including pupils with SEND are taught the same ambitious curriculum.”
