Tamworth Enterprise College (TEC) based in Staffordshire, is a forward thinking and established 11-16 Academy that is within easy commuting distance of Birmingham and Derby.

Our students are very much at the heart of what we do, and we challenge and support them to achieve their very best. You find our students are engaging, take a pride in their work and are proud to be part of the ‘TEC family’. We have recently undertaken a significant reform to the subjects and courses that our students study, in order to make our curriculum broader and more balanced.

We are looking to appoint a committed and enterprising candidate to become our new Supervisory Science Technician. The Science department benefits from tailored and effective CPD both within the Academy and from the AET ‘Northern Cluster’.

The team are enthusiastic advocates of learning for all and students enjoy their lessons and engage positively with their learning as a consequence.  As our new Supervisory Science Technician we will nurture, support and challenge you in your career. By working closely with the Science team and support staff across the Academy we will encourage you to continue to develop your skills.

You will:
• Be able to offer invaluable practical and administrative support to teaching staff to support Science lessons.
• Take a lead support role in the department and help support the Science Technician in making sure all Science lessons are well resourced to help aid outstanding learning.
• Ideally have experience of working in a school environment and be aware of the Health and Safety involved in the role or be a graduate with considerable laboratory experience looking to enter into work in education.
• Have good numeracy and Literacy skills with at least an NVQ2 in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities (LATA) Educational or NVQ2 School Support Staff, or other appropriate equivalent qualification or experience
In joining TEC you can expect a supportive culture within an Academy with very high aspirations, moving forward at pace. If you believe that instilling enterprise and ambition can transform the lives of young people then we would love to hear from you.

We actively encourage candidates to visit us, meet the faculty and learn more about the ‘TEC’ family. If you would like to visit or require further information please email Pauline Tonks at ptonks@tamworthenterprisecollege.org

Tamworth Enterprise College became an Academy in September 2012 and is sponsored by Academies Enterprise Trust (AET).  We are at an exciting stage in our development, and our journey to be an Outstanding Academy is well underway.

As the sponsor, AET believes that all young people deserve to become world-class learners – to learn, enjoy, succeed and thrive in a first rate educational environment with the best facilities, the best teaching and the most up-to-date resources available to them.  In each of our AET academies, you will benefit from visionary, inspirational and dynamic leadership and be empowered to develop your own skills with access to world-class CPD and Talent Management programmes.  You will also be entitled to the following benefits: a health cash plan, vehicle affinity scheme, Cycle2work, childcare vouchers and Westfield rewards.

Our Curriculum

Tamworth Enterprise College is a successful, high-achieving secondary school where everyone is given the opportunity to do their best, whatever their background or ability.

Our inclusive curriculum provides opportunities for success for all our students, at all levels of ability. Extensive links with primary schools help to ease the transition process.

We are proud of our provision for children with special needs. On entry, students attainment levels are studied carefully and used to place students in teaching sets for all subjects except for PE. These sets are reviewed throughout the year and changes are made based on the students' progress, interim assessments and teacher judgements.

Student progress is monitored through informal and formal assessment in each curriculum area, and parents are kept informed through regular effort and progress checks.

The Curriculum is further strengthened by a variety of intervention/support strategies to ensure that the Curriculum is relevant and accessible for all students.
