Location: Westbury Park, Bristol   

Hourly Rate: £10.04 - £11.28 ph (Linked to competency and qualifications) 

Hours: Part-Time - 28 hours per week. Overtime is also available (currently paid at an enhanced rate)

Aurora Hyde lodge is situated close to the city centre and offers a supported living and learning environment for young adults aged 19+ with severe and complex learning difficulties.

What is a Support Worker?

You will be working 1:1 with a resident on each shift, you will have the freedom to plan their day in line with their choices and wishes, enabling them to be as independent as possible.

You will be providing personal care to residents as well as supporting them in a wide range of learning, development and social activities including arts and crafts, cookery, music, gardening, swimming, shopping trips and fun social occasions.

We are looking for pro-active individuals who can demonstrate compassion, empathy and a person-centred approach to supporting our young people.

Skills and Qualifications 

  • Willingness to learn and to go the extra mile.  
  • Ability to guide and encourage supportive independence when possible.  
  • Exceptional communication skills and patience.  
  • Willingness to work towards achieving Level 2 apprenticeship or equivalent for Adults (funded by us).  
  • Experience working within special needs and/or support/care roles (either in a paid or personal environment) 
  • A strong understanding of what “good care” looks like   
  • A robust, positive and creative approach in meeting the needs of young adults.  
  • Good interpersonal, communication and team working skills.  
  • Able to work within the parameters of the physical demands of the job role.  
  • Be able to work within a rota pattern (which includes evenings, weekends and some unsocial hours).
