Cumnor House is a highly-respected and much-loved Prep School within beautiful grounds near Haywards Heath.


We are looking for the very best person to work with our young swimmers. Ideally experience of working in swim club squads or schools. The right candidate will have unbridled desire and knowledge of how to support each individual on their performance journey in the pool, from the early years through to competing at the highest level. A desire to improve themselves and others is key to building a culture of development and personal bests, not only with the students, but in the sports department as well.

Overarching responsibilities: In this role you will be responsible for planning, preparing and teaching swimming lessons and other pool activities, as requested by the Pool Managers.


Principal Duties:

  • To inspire and drive students in the school’s swimming programme
  • Clear vision for how to maintain and improve both performance standards as well as levels of participation across the school’s age ranges
  • An understanding of how to nurture talent
  • Establish and develop links with other schools and clubs
  • Raise the profile of Cumnor Swimming programme
  • Plan and evaluate training and competition schedules for all squad swimmers
  • Maintain good order and discipline among the children and safeguard their health and safety in accordance with the school’s policy, on school premises and when on authorised activities elsewhere.
  • Maintain appropriate records to monitor all pupils’ progress in swimming;
  • Attend such courses as may be necessary to maintain qualification as an ASA/STA Swimming Teacher and Pool Safety Award.
  • Endeavour to maintain the good condition of all swimming pool equipment and alert the Pool Managers to repair needs when necessary.

Qualification

·        ASA or STA Level 2 Certificate in coaching or Level 2 swimming Teacher

 

Hours of Work

Prep School Teachers are expected to work from 8am to 6pm during term time, which includes 3 days before and after the start and end of each term. You may also be required to do a weekend border’s duty twice a year, this would be a morning or afternoon on either the Saturday or the Sunday.
