Lancing College is seeking to recruit a Bank of Swimming Teachers with a minimum Level 2 teaching qualification (ASA/STA or equivalent) and personal liability insurance.

Flexibility is also essential for this role with working hours available over weekdays, evening, and weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To safely plan and deliver lessons adhering to the Lancing College swim school scheme of work and appropriate to the level of swimmer.
  • To ensure the safe use of equipment, to set-up equipment prior to lessons and to safely store equipment once lessons are finished.
  • Identify swimmers’ skills and abilities and encourage them to reach their full potential.
  • To be a friendly, courteous and positive role model to all swimmers.
  • To provide clear explanations and to demonstrate swimming techniques accurately.
  • To evaluate sessions and provide feedback for parents.
  • To agree to abide by the codes of conduct and carry out duties in accordance with Lancing College Swim School.
  • To adhere to Lancing College Swimming Pool site policies, including health and safety at work, safeguarding children and equal opportunities.

Qualifications and Training:

Essential:

  • Level 2 teaching qualification (ASA/STA or equivalent)
  • Enhanced DBS (to be provided by Lancing College)
  • Safeguarding and Child Protection Training (to be provided by Lancing College)
  • Personal Liability Insurance
  • Great Organisation and Communication skills
  • Flexibility to work weekdays, evenings and/or weekends.

Desirable:

  • NPLQ

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required:

  • Ability and experience to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability complete routine administrative paperwork.
  • Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.
  • High standard of customer Service.
