  • Do you love working with young people and seeing them develop?

• Can you motivate, challenge and inspire?

• Do you want to work in an environment that supports you to be the best you can be?

• Do you want to work in a school that prides itself on supporting all of our community?

• Do you have the ambition and determination to change the life chances of our young people?

If the answer to these questions is YES then we can offer you an exciting and rewarding opportunity to join our SEND department as a HLTA.

There has never been a better time to join Lostock High School. The school has a new Headteacher who is determined that Lostock High will continue to develop as a popular school of choice for our community. Our SEND department continues to expand including a resourced provision for students with ASC. Initially this role would involve planning, delivering lessons to and assessing small groups of SEND students primarily within our Hub provision. Lesson planning would follow the mainstream subjects and would be supported by the mainstream Heads of Departments. The HLTA would be expected to differentiate according to need. Assessment will follow the working and feedback expectations for the school.

This is an exciting time to join our SEND team as we continue to develop in order to improve the results and outcomes for our young people with additional needs. We pride ourselves on engaging pupils, making learning exciting and rewarding, and on our tenacity. You will join a strong team of individuals who are committed to improving life chances for young people, and who believe in preparing pupils for the wider world.

We want all of our students to achieve their potential and we make sure that there are no limitations or barriers to reaching the highest possible standards of academic, social and personal development.

We have a hugely talented and committed staff team who make sure that our curriculum, care, support and guidance meets the individual needs of every young person, and we pride ourselves on having high expectations. Our students are well organised, supportive of each other and keen to do well.

We are looking to appoint an outstanding Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) who has a true passion for supporting SEND pupils to succeed within a mainstream setting.  A full programme of training will be provided. Experience of teaching students with additional needs is desirable, and up to date knowledge of SEND is required. The department is dynamic and forward thinking, and eager to see pupils succeed. This post would involve the candidate working closely with students with ASC and social communication needs, therefore experience in this area would be welcomed.

We are looking for commitment to improving life chances for young people with SEND, as well as commitment to your own professional development. You will be well supported by the Senior Leadership Team who are focused on teaching and learning, and by a comprehensive programme of induction and training to ensure your individual needs are met. Our school is a lively and exciting place to work. We truly live by our motto of Inspire, Transform, Succeed.

We are totally dedicated to providing the very best opportunities for our students to ensure that we inspire confidence, transform learning and succeed to compete with the best.

The closing date will be 9am on Friday 17th December 2021 and interviews will take place w/c 10th January 2022.

Please note that should we receive a suitable number of applications prior this closing date we may bring this date forward.

To allow us to compare candidates fairly, completion of our application form is required. CV’s will not ordinarily be considered for shortlisting.

Lostock High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its students and the successful appointment will be subject to an enhanced disclosure through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
