Position Purpose:

Excellent classroom teachers are foundational to the learning environment at Danebank. As such, teachers are responsible for creating and maintaining effective learning environments which support the learning needs of the students.

Danebank teachers are organised, enthusiastic and passionate about the potential of their students. They are life-long learners themselves, modelling excellent learning and developing positive professional relationships with students, parents and colleagues. They skilfully develop relevant, structured learning opportunities with clear time-frames and deadlines, where process as well as content is made explicit and where students are encouraged to demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways and settings.

Teachers must ensure that they meet all NESA requirements in the delivery of curriculum, as well as working with individual students to support and/or extend their underlying abilities. Classroom teachers must also meet Danebank’s expectations in supporting the wellbeing, spiritual and co-curricular needs of the students in their care, in the context of the School’s ethos and Code of Conduct.

Experience/Skills Required

  • An ability to teach Stage 4 Technology and Food Technology is desirable
  • A willingness to teach Life Skills Technology is desirable
  • Ability to work in a responsible manner and follow adopted safe-working practice in accordance with the latest

  • Ability to deliver effective pedagogy in an innovative and engaging manner
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Professional and personal integrity

  • Licenses/Certificates/Qualifications Required
  • Qualification in Secondary Education in Technology
  • Registered with NESA
  • Tertiary qualification in TAS and Food Technology teaching
  • Working with Children Check required
  • Physical/Work Environment Requirements
  • General physical fitness. The role requires teachers to attend to student needs away from the school (e.g. on camps or work experience) and some students may require physical assistance.
