An opportunity is offered for a suitably qualified and experienced teacher to apply for the temporary role of Teacher of Additional Support Needs at Castle Douglas High School.

Additional Support Needs is at an exciting stage in Castle Douglas High School and the successful candidate will be part of a team who will shape how additional support is delivered to the benefit of the pupils, their parents and the communities the schools serves. The school is at the start of a journey to being recognised as a nurturing school and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to help shape how that nurture approach is evident within additional support needs.

Castle Douglas High School would like to recruit a talented and committed Teacher who will bring a great deal of enthusiasm to this role. This opportunity is offered on a secondment basis or as a temporary contract until the end of session 2018-19 and may be suitable to both a current teacher of additional support needs who would like the opportunity to further develop their skills and knowledge of this area or to a teacher who would like to experience additional support needs with a view to moving their career in that direction.

Applicants should be confident and able to demonstrate they are an experienced and innovative practitioner. They should have a sound and detailed knowledge and understanding of relevant aspects of Curriculum for Excellence 2-18 and be able to demonstrate they have a commitment to the vision, values and core priorities in the development of education, teaching and learning which meets the needs of all pupils.

The successful applicant will join a developing team of ASN teachers. They will support and be supported to deliver high quality educational experiences and contribute to the positive management of the school by modelling the school aims and values to maximise and recognise the attainment and achievement of all of our young people.
